Short Brief: As an important contribution to a sustainable reorientation of the construction industry, additive manufacturing is open to a wide variety of materials and material combinations in order to address aspects of ecological impact in a world of increasing resource shortages. Nevertheless, research into sustainable materials in large-scale 3D printing is still in its infancy. In an experimental approach, students in this course developed an architectural prototype. By combining several sustainable materials, speculative contributions that address the life cycle of biological materials were created. The course was structured into three tasks: Digital design development, robotic fabrication in REX|LAB & project documentation in a short film.
